Best Arabic Phage Award

It is initiative launched by Phage Arab. This annual award honors the Arab researchers who isolated the best phage in the MENA region.

Each year, three outstanding winners will be selected—one from each of the key sectors where phages show promising impact:

1. Medicine (Phage Therapy)

Awarded to research that pioneers the use of phages to combat antibiotic-resistant infections, enhance human health, or develop therapeutic alternatives in clinical settings.

2. Agriculture (Phage in Plant & Animal Health)

Recognizes innovations in applying phages to protect crops or livestock from bacterial diseases, reducing reliance on antibiotics and promoting sustainable farming.

3. Food Safety & Food Industry

Celebrates work that demonstrates how phages can be used to improve food safety—whether by eliminating harmful bacteria in food products or decontaminating food processing environments.

4. Environmental Applications

Highlights research using phages to clean up

the environment, including wastewater

treatment, bioremediation, and restoring

microbial balance in natural ecosystems.
